Wukesong, We Hardly Knew Ye

January 5th, 2009 Jackson · 2 Comments

Not even six months after being built, China’s Wukesong Baseball Stadium–best known as the site of China’s only olympic baseball victory–is in danger of being torn down. World Baseball Today reports that unless baseball has a plan in place to make the stadium profitable, it’s curtains. Not that it should come as a surprise–Up to 1.5 million people were displaced and historical neighborhoods destroyed just to prepare for the olympics–so its fairly safe to say developers won’t waste any time on a baseball stadium when the demand for the sport “just is not there” in the mainland.
