It’s nothing about the play itself–a nice tag on an attempted steal of second.
It’s the fact that the baserunner plays for the French national team. That’s right the French national baseball team has been busy in action during a four team test event at the Wukesong Baseball Field, which will be used during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Japan also dispatched the vaunted Czech Republic Nine before whipping the host country 7-1 on Sunday.

The Chinese team featured future Yankees Liu Kai and Zhang Zhenwang, and future Mariners Jia Yubing and Wang Wei.
The coach of the Chinese national team, who a few days ago whipped the Czechs 9-2, is none other than James Lefebvre, he of taking a swing at Tommy Lasorda fame. Lefebvre has a .486 winning percentage in stints managing the Cubs, Brewers and Mariners. He talks about the team and Chinese baseball in general in this article.
The tournament will continue this week with two teams facing off Thursday for the championship. My money is on the Czechs.
