We’re a year old and I feel I ought to say something profound. Not because anyone particularly cares and needs to know that we’ve been doing this for a year, but mostly because it occupies a decent portion of my life on certain days through certain hours.
East Windup Chronicle was hatched on July 27, 2007 on the evening Barry Bonds hit his 755th Home Run. It was just the second time Jackson and I had met in person, and our coming together was part of a wedding weekend for our mutual friend Eric. Jackson was late to the game, in fact, and as we all rushed in to try and see Bonds, the milestone home run landed just 20 or so feet away from me. It wasn’t far from a nacho stand, behind the centerfield wall, under the centerfield bleachers and largely out of sight save a hollow thud on the concrete.
Since then it’s been a lot of fun. I can’t speak exactly for Jackson, but it’s a real joy to wake up in the morning, get some coffee, flip through my google reader, get thinking about something, get writing about something, and have other people read and sometimes respond to it. There are higher pleasures in life for sure, but this isn’t all that bad.
I had the idea to do an EWC Top 10 of all time, but frankly, it’s a little embarrassing what’s toward the top of the list. Instead I’ll just say a humble thanks for reading and best to you and yours.

I squarely blame MUNI for being late to that game. I arrived at the station a good hour in advance to make sure I arrived on time. No train. We’ll get into my feelings about SF later.
Thanks Aaron, for that post, and more importantly , a year of your tremendous and prolific output. It’s been great watching you emerge as a sportswriter.
