We’re not Worthy: Props from Aaron Gleeman

In the world of baseball blogs, in our humble opinion nobody does it better than NBC Sports.com and Rotoworld Senior Editor Aaron Gleeman. In his blog, the cleverly titled AaronGleeman.com, the Twins-centric writer consistently produces outstanding, in depth-analysis that rivals or improves upon coverage found in the mainstream press. In a recent post on his own well publicized blog, fidgety bundle of energy and notoriously hard to hit tattooed Twins reliever Pat Neshek recently complimented Gleeman’s work after expressing frustration with mainstream media’s occasssional failure to sustantiate its claims:

For example if Aaron Gleeman would write something with the headline “The League is Figuring Him Out” I know he would have concrete stats detailing things like BA during second time facing player, 3rd time, 6th time, 100th time. I know he would then go out and do some crazy statistic adding up the entire leagues 2nd, 3rd, 4th at bats against me and lay it out and I would read it and go man, this guy is right.

Needless to say we were overjoyed when the Rod Carew circa 1977 of sports journalism had the following to say about the East Windup Chronicle:

There aren’t a whole lot of blogs that are truly unique and cover new ground at this point, including this one most of the time, but East Windup Chronicle is definitely one of a kind. Written by a native Minnesotan and Twins fan who’s living in Taiwan [and Reds fan living in Busan, Korea], the blog is “a journal of sports, art, politics, and culture from the Pacific Rim.” Among other things, the site figures to be a good source of information on Asian baseball prospects. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Aw, shucks. Getting praise like this was like being a wide-eyed Twins rookie getting props from Torii in the media. It should also be noted that Gleeman joins the ranks of filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen, NY Times columnist Thomas Friedman, and my brother, avante garde rock musician Andrew Broder of the rock band Fog as a noteworthy talent coming from the western suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

If Gleeman pimps you, it means you’ve made it big time for sure.

When he posts on BBTF he’s a pretty cool dude.
