Check out this trailer from The Good, the Bad, and the Weirda movie by Korean director Kim Ji-woon that’s going to be one of the big blockbusters in Korea this summer.
It’s the story of three Korean outlaws in 1930s Manchuria and their dealings with the Japanese army and Chinese and Russian bandits. A spaghetti western set in Russia. Could be good.
Kim’s last movie was A Bittersweet Life (2005), which wasn’t bad. Before that he did the horror film A Tale of Two Sisters (2003), which I’m sure you remember from the live blog Asian Halloween viewing I did last year.

Looks neat. Korean movies have been getting regular showing in Japan for quite a few years now, so hopefully I’ll get to see it in a theatre.

I’m stoked about this one. Only my Korean’s not really up to scratch to follow movie dialogue… so I might wait for the DVD. Or I might just turn up and try to piece the plot together by myself.

I have a feeling this might make it out worldwide. It’s at Cannes now and it’s opening in France thereafter.
