Sometimes, Life Just Syncs Right Up

I doubt too many people heard about this, but prior to his major league debut last Saturday at Yankee Stadium, Reds pitcher Daryl Thompson, along with fellow rookie Jay Bruce, got on the No. 4 subway line headed for the Bronx. Except, they got on the platform headed to Brooklyn.

When I lived in Brooklyn I used to work next to Yankee Stadium, in a dilapidated 100+ year old building that belonged to a magazine publisher. I used to take the 4-train to work everyday — from Brooklyn to the Bronx. Yeah, it was a bit of a commute.

Just today, on a bus in Korea, I finished watching a movie (on my iPod) called Quiet Cityby a New York director named Aaron Katz. Great movie, about a guy and a girl that accidentally meet in Brooklyn and end up spending the weekend together in a completely non-sexual way. The movie ends with the two falling asleep next to one another on the subway.

I came home and flipped through my Google reader and what do I find? A profile of Thompson on Jon Sickles Minor League Blog.

Love it when life syncs up like that.
