This is a daikon, very common in Asian cuisines. Often used as a garnish for dishes such as sashimi. In Korea it’s used in the side-dish kkakdugi. Not one of my favorites, but pleasant enough.
From the looks of it, I’d say the male Daikon is an elderly fellow. He has a cane.
