Samsung capped off a terrible week by edging the Lotte Giants 2-1 to end a six game losing streak that saw the team drop to the No. 4 position in the Korean Baseball Organization.
The streak included a three game sweep of Samsung by the Hanwha Eagles who now hold a 2 1/2 game lead over the Lions. The teams will face off once more on Oct. 4.
However the news wasn’t all good for Samsung who saw its star mercenary pitcher Kevin Brown leave the game after 2 2/3 INN with an elbow problem. The Lions bullpen picked up the slack shutting the Giants out for the rest of the game.
Oh Sung-hwan picked his league leading 38th save in his first appearance since getting rocked and picking up the loss in his last outing vs. Doosan one week ago.
No word on Brown’s status for the playoffs, which, baring any future rainouts will begin the second week of October.
