As I mentioned before we’re going to do an East Windup Chronicle fantasy league. If you’re a reader of this site how about joining up? There’s no money involved (Jackson slams fist on keyboard) and the idea is to keep things fairly casual and fun. Even if you don’t have a ton of experience playing fantasy baseball feel free to join. It’s more of a community building excersize than anything else. Now if that kind of language doesn’t make you want to sign right up I don’t know what will…
All we ask is that you see the thing through from beginning to end and not draft Barry Bonds in the first round. The draft is set for March 20, but we’re going to try and change it to fit everyone’s needs, namely mine.
The stat categories are a little different than the average league, we like to use OBP and SLG to go along with R, HR, RBI and SB. For pitching we throw in Holds, along with W, K, ERA, WHIP and Saves.
It’s also a head-to-head league. So you’ll have the chance to face-off against a real life major league scout in Jackson Broder. There’s talk of a couple other scouts joining as well. If you win the league you can go around shouting at televisions that you’re a big league-level evaluator of talent. People will place flowers and cakes made of bats at your feet.
We already have six of the 14 spots filled, so hurry up and email me…I’ll hook you up with the league ID code and password….eastwindupchronicle@gmail.com

What’s a hold?

A hold is awarded to a relief pitcher who enters the game in a save situation and makes @ least one out before leaving the game while keeping the teams lead. The pitcher who saves the game is the pitcher who ends the game in this position.
Also a keeper option would be great. I’d like to get in the league but haven’t gotten an email back. Hit me if there is still room. Namurt@gmail.com

A keeper league would be fun. Maybe I’ll table the idea once we have everyone signed up. I wanted to keep it casual so people would feel free to join., but if that’s what the people want it’s fine by me.
By the way I think there’s still at least four slots open….I’ll also increase it from 14 to 16 if there are enough people.

Hey, we should clarify–I scout amateur baseball players in Asia, I make no claims to have any expertise in evaluating MLB players. I’ll still whoop that azz tho.

I’ve signed up my very classy team Tokyo Topless. Looking forward to this, though I’ll be out of town on draft day, so I’ll be stuck with autodrafted players (will rank them, of course, but…)

yeah, make sure to rank them unless you want Barry Zito and Tom Glavine in your rotation.
