McDonald’s Trying to Trick Japanese People into Eating its Burgers

Interesting idea here — a no brand McDonalds in Tokyo called “Quarter Pounder.” The menu is minimalist, offering just a double and single quarter pounders with friends and a coke. Hmm…where have I seen this before? Oh yeah, it’s called In-N-Out burger, a chain that serves burgers that taste like hamburgers instead of some other worldly aproximation of a burger cooked up in a lab somewhere.

According to the original post on Inventor Spot customers are “lining up” to get a taste. I guess I can believe that. They even have a seperate Web site for the venture.

I might sound like I’m some kind of high-minded non McDonalds eating coolster, but I actually like Burger King and Popeye’s when I’m in Korea. I won’t eat McDonalds, but that has more to do with Fast Food Nation than anything else.

I’m afraid to ask… what’s the Japanese equivalent to “animal style”?

Tried it, and my stomach didn’t like it after an all night drinking session.

I haven’t read FFN, but I’m curious as to why you think Burger King is somehow better than McDonald’s. Here in the States, Burger King was the very last of the biggest fast-food chains to drop cooking oil with trans fats. (Although McDonald’s certainly dragged their feet in that department.)

I’m not aware of BK having any “best practices” type behavior that would, in any way, make them preferable to McDonald’s. Admit it: You just like their food more.
