Almost missed this one. A couple days ago the Lotte Giants, who recently hired Jerry Royster as the first foreign manager in Korea, have also hired a foreign pitching coach in Fernando Arroyo.
I’m guessing Royster knows Arroyo from both working for the Dodgers during the past few years. Royster was the manager of the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate Las Vegas 51s, and according to the article in the DongA Arroyo has been working as a tutor for the team’s class A club. Both are also from Sacramento, California.
Arroyo once lost 18 games for the Detroit Tigers, bounced around a bit during the 70s and early 80s, playing in Mexico for a spell.
