Hot on the heels of the Hitler bar is this – coming to a theater near you (well, likely just in Nippon), a new movie called The Truth About Nanjing, which according to the director sets the record straight about the massacre.
There is one indisputable fact: there was no massacre at Nanjing. We don’t want our children to grow up thinking Japan is a barbarian country.
Here’s a YouTube clip of a Reuters story about the film and controversy surrounding it.
In case you missed that:
“They resemble Jesus Christ who was nailed to the cross in order to bear the sins of the world. They died bearing all of old Japan’s good andbad parts and headed for the gallows.”
The film is based on the writings of Shudo Higashinakano, a University professor who believes the Nanking Massacre story was made up by Americans and Europeans who were living in Nanjing at the time. Higashinakano was sued last year in a Chinese court over the book. The film is film is backed by Japanese ultra-conservatives, including Tokyo governor Shintaro Ishihara.
