Japanese High School Baseball Rapscallions Picked Up For Shoplifting in L.A.

November 27th, 2008 Shinsano · No Comments

Although the fact that they managed to swipe a number of wallets before getting caught is a little impressive. Usually there are so many people working at duty free stores, they seem like an unlikely place for shoplifting paydirt.

Over 20 students of a private high school here were punished for shoplifting in Los Angeles while they were visiting the United States on a school trip, it has been learned.

Disciplined over the incident were 21 second-year students from Hokkaido Sakae High School in Shiraoi, Hokkaido, including several members of the school’s baseball team. As punishment, they were all suspended from school for five days.

According to school officials, 108 second-grade students from the school were visiting the West Coast from Nov. 7 to 12 on a school trip.

Eight students were caught, but once they got back to Japan it was found that 13 others had been stealing throughout the trip. Sounds like it might have been the theme of the trip.
