With its scoreless streak extended to 19 innings by pitcher Josh Outman, shortstop Brian Bixler booted a Leonardo Zileri ground-ball to stop the run. But Team USA didn’t stop there, yeilding  consecutive RBI singles to put Italy up 3-0  en route to a 6-2 loss.

In other action Cuba ran its record to 3-0, beating Canada (1-2) by 6-3 score. On Saturday the Cubans will face Korea, who  is also are 3-0 and have been  most impressive, destroying Thailand 18-2 on Friday.

Canada (1-2)  will try to keep its slim hopes of moving on alive when it plays Germany, who lost to the Netherlands 15-5. Germany  in losing three games in the IBAF thus far have  run its World Cup  record to 0-28.  The  Dutch team will play Venezuela (1-2).
