If you sneezed you might have missed Igawa Kei’s first appearance with the Yankees in nearly two months.
Kei, who was called up Sept. 9, was inserted in the top of the 8th inning, the Blue Jays up 11-9, Alex Rios on second and Greg Zaun at first.
Igawa was up in the strike zone the entire AB. Luna fouled off two pitches before lining in the 5th into right for a base hit, scoring Rios easily. Luna was then hung up between first and second, causing Zaun to try and score. Zaun was thrown out at home, thus ending the inning.
Announcer Michael Kay’s scouting report?
“Same old same old with Igawa.”

I think it’s time to realize that Kei Igawa just isn’t that good. Maybe I’m a bit slow on this one…

I’m a little curious if he could do anything in San Diego. I tend to think there’s something there. He’s pitched fairly well in the minors.
