Imagine coming across this idyllic scene as you’re taking a bike ride through Boracay in the Philippines, an 85 degree day, cool breeze coming off the ocean, palm trees waving–a Filipino Police Action League in their Saturday basketball game, the score knotted up at 68 in the fourth quarter.

The game was attended by most of the locals that afternoon, and was announced via an old school microphone PA system. “Ga-li-GAAAAOOOOOO” ! Many of the men in attendance were rockin’ Ginobili, Ray Allen, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas (?) jerseys. The team in Yellow–Boracay PULIS team, won by four, 82-78.

In the Philippines its easy to forget you’re a short boat ride from East Asia at times, the country has the feel of a Caribbean nation– English road signs abound. Tats and Reggaeton music everywhere, outdoor grillin’ in the park.  Trucks with Bulls and Raptors logos blast rap and reggae music.  Salamat to the folks of Boracay for a dream of a day.
