You may or may not have already heard Google has archived 10 million Life magazine photos, some which date back to the 1750s. A number of the photos have never been published. I played around with this a little this morning and came up with some goodies in a Japan — Baseball search.
The above photo is from a November 1946 game between Keio University and Wasada University. The caption says “with band leader enthusiastically participating on sidelines.”
This is a photo featuring members of the Wasada team holding trophies presented by Emperor Hirohito.
Unfortunately there’s nothing from Korea or Taiwan related to baseball, but plenty of pics related to every day life in those countries. Well, actually all the Korea photos are related to the war.

Small nitpick (with Google’s description): Photography was invented in the 19th century, so before that, “pictures” in magazines were not photos but illustrations.
Still I hadn’t realized that Time went back that far. I figured maybe National Geographic and some other nature and/or academic journals did, but Time would never had occurred to me as being so old. Maybe that’s because it’s a photo-journalist magazine?

The 1750 is definitely an attention grabber. I didn’t take the trouble to see if those were indeed photos, but you’ve confirmed that. I guess there are worse ways and reasons to call attention to one’s self.
