Fund for William Kapoun

March 5th, 2008 Shinsano · 1 Comment

An English teacher named William Kapoun working in Seoul was badly injured in a fire that raged through his apartment on Sunday, leaving him with third-degree burns over 70% of his body. Sadly, the school Bill worked for — Bulam Elementary School — will not cover his medical expenses, which are estimated to be about $130,000.

With his parents in a difficult financial situation, his friends and colleagues in both Korea and his home city of Bloomington, Indiana have launched a campaign to raise funds via the Internet at http://www.billkapoun.com. I just sent a donation via PayPal and I urge you to do the same.

You can read an article about Bill’s plight in the Korean Times here.

For the most part the Korean blogosphere or however you call it has really come together for this guy. It’s good to see and I hope they’re raising a decent sum.
