There’s been plenty of news concerning the safety of food coming out of China, to the extent that even China itself has budged to re-examine, and even change it’s own regulations.
But how to Chinese people feel when they buy food at markets and in restaurants? Do they eat without worrying or are they even more nervous than their fellow American consumers?
Thus begins a short film by Ren Bo, shot for Danwei a four-year-old site mostly interested in “Chinese media, advertising, and urban life.”
According to the site:
The Chinese word ‘Danwei’ (单位) means ‘unit’, as in a unit of currency or measurement, or as in ‘work unit’ - the old term for a state-owned company that was supposed to provide cradle-to-grave employment, housing and medical treatment.
Danwei is filled with clips and podcasts created by foreigners as well as Chinese people living in China. Well-worth a look.
