Well, if this isn’t a must watch program I don’t know what is. VBS.TV, a free Internet network started by Vice Magazine co-founder Shane Smith, will present The Vice Guide to North Korea on March 3.
As someone who’s been fascinated by North Korea for some time I’ve grown tired of the whole “Hey, look I’m in North Korea!” shtick thrown out by both the media and independent traveller alike. It’s not a big deal anymore. Heeps of people go there and they all brag about it in this grave, sublte way. F*ing Matt Lauer went there. Do a search on it and you’ll find thousands of photos — all the same.
It’s high time a real wild man got let loose up there for some gonzo-style reporting. Looks like Smith just might deliver the goods:
I’m really looking forward to this. Here’s a trailer of the show. If you go to the VBS.TV Web site you can find more information on the show and network itself.

This does look good. If you haven’t seen his Iraq metal band piece it’s well worth your time. I’ve always liked Smith…unpretentious, funny, and like you say…kind of a madman.
