This kid’s on fire. I wasn’t planning on covering every one of his starts in Class A, but I may have to…he may not be there for long the way he’s going. This evening he threw six shutout innings and won his third game in three tries as the Peoria Chiefs beat the West Michigan Whitecaps 4-0.
According to a Korean message board Rhee didn’t allow a runner past first after the first inning. He gave up three hits — all singles. He did walk three batters, which gives him four on the year. Still, gotta love that 15/4 K/BB ratio.
His line:
6 IP, 3 hits, 3 K, 3 BB
And now for the season:
16 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 15 K, 4 BB
Rhee’s last start, which I didn’t cover here was a 4-1 win over the Beliot Snappers in which he allowed one run on three hits and struck out seven. Rhee’s now won three of the team’s five games and has a nice 8 1/3 scoreless streak going. If the schedule holds true his next start will be against the vaunted Great Lakes Loons over the weekend.
I’m afraid I don’t have anything special to add here from a scouting point of view, but I should within the next few weeks.
And someone should tell Baseball America Rhee is from Korea, not Taiwan.

Might be too early in the season, but I’d be interested in seeing what he can do in AA already!
