Coach of Chinese Taipei Team Resigns

December 15th, 2007 Shinsano · No Comments

After a poor showing in the 37th Baseball World Cup and the Asian Olympic Baseball Qualifiers Taiwanese manager Kuo Tai-Yuan will resign, as the team announced, “to take a rest.”

Indeed.

Kuo is a retired Taiwanese NPB baseball pitcher who won 117 games during a 13-year career with the Seibu Lions. He’s widely regarded as the greatest Taiwanese pitcher before Wang Chien-Ming.

After a 5-1 start in the Baseball World Cup the team fell apart, eventually landing in 8th place. During the recent Asian championships the team was clearly overmatched against eventual winner Japan and runner-up Korea.

For a previous discetion of Kuo’s managing folies during the Asian Championships see this past piece written by our loyal reader Iron Chef.
