This is actually a very swift move by the Marlins. The D-backs claimed him off waivers, thereby talking on Kim’s contract. The D-backs designated him for assignment after two poor starts. Now the Marlins sign him for the minimum.

Kim pitched fairly well for the Marlins. sporting a 4.16 ERA in 13 appearances. In a July 5th game vs. the Padres he outpitched Jake Peavy, giving up two runs and three hits in 6 1/3 innings. His last game previous to heading to Arizona he struck out 10 in 5 1/3 innings.
For a bit there was nary a Korean player in the majors. Choo Shins-soo is likely to join the Indians once the rosters expand inin September–provided he’s over the strained left elbow that’s hampered him since July. Park Chan-ho has an ERA over 6.00 as a reliever for the Astros AAA club and would be a shocking call up.
Look for some kind of Korean player report card as the season winds down. It won’t be pretty.
