Yankees stopper Wang Chien-Ming (18-6, 3.69) takes the hill today against Boston Red Sox ace Josh Beckett (18-6, 3.27) in a matchup that could have a significant impact on this year’s AL Cy Young Voting. Beckett and Wang are currently tied for the AL lead in wins with 18 wins a piece.

In the last month, Wang has been nearly unhittable and made a significant case for the AL Cy Young award, putting up a 5-0 record with a 2.04 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP in a string of highly impressive quality starts.   While Beckett is considered the front runner for the award at this point due to his higher K totals and slightly better overall numbers, that could all change if Wang wins his 19th against the division leading Red Sox.
