Baseball From the Comfort of Your Retina

April 13th, 2008 Shinsano · No Comments

Imagine sitting down to watch a baseball game. You have your beer, your coffee, what have you. You turn on the game and put on your trusty retinal imaging display (RID) device, which looks like a pair of eye-glasses, and works kind of like something you’ve probably seen in the Terminator movies. You watch the game, and search stats on the Internet via an image projected onto your retina.

Or better, you have to go to the store. You get in the car, start it, put on your RID, put the car in drive and watch the Reds/Pirates game as you drive.

Coming soon.

According to Newlaunches.com the device was created by Japan’s Brother Industries, and works by irradiating a low-intensity light on the retina, scanning it with the light at a high speed.

The user perceives the afterimage of the light scanned on the retina as an image. In other words, the retinal scanning display is like a projector that uses the retina as the “screen.”
