Air = Fall = Ghosts?

August 31st, 2009 Shinsano · 2 Comments

You know, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say fall arrived in South Korea tonight. It’s a tad early, so I suspect another hot blast will be on the way, but at the same time there’s usually a late afternoon sometime in September when the air becomes tangibly cooler. That late afternoon came tonight.

I just got back from trips to both Taiwan and Japan, where it’s quite a bit hotter than Korea. What better way to celebrate the possible arrival of fall than with some Japanese ghost paintings. These are by Kawanabe Kyōsai (1831-1889).

    Kinda the same here in central Illinois. It’s in the 50’s right now as I’m typing, which is unseasonably cool for the end of August. Not unwelcome, though.
