The 90th Koushien Tournament starts Aug. 2. Simon wrote a couple posts on the prequalifiers in Tokyo and then on Monday wrote a nice primer for the tournament which includes a info on the geographic makeup of the tournament, some interesting historical facts about Koushien and a couple You Tube clips. I’d also recommend the Wikipedia page on Japanese High School Baseball if you’re just now learning or aren’t all that familiar with what Koushien is.
Once you’ve read that and Simon’s stuff you should proceed to a new blog dedicated entirely to the tournament. The name of the blog is é«˜æ ¡é‡Žçƒ (Koushien). If I’m not mistaken this guy has writting about Koushien on japanesebaseball.com before. If it is him, great to see he’s starting his own thing. If not it’s great anyway. Read this post for a full preview of the tournament, including listings, summaries and predictions for all eight brackets in English.
Lastly I want to mention this blog, called Punk Rock, Football, Drinks and Other Boring Stuff, which linked to us about a week ago in a post about Koushien. The site is maintained by a German guy and reads just about as you might expect — punk rock reviews and some sports. He’s a big NPB fan and writes about it frequently.

Just a note “é«˜æ ¡é‡Žçƒ” means high-school baseball, not koushien.
