On a windy rain-soaked day in Chiba City Bobby Valentine’s Chiba Lotte Marines took a 1-0 series lead over the Soft Bank Hawks with a 8-4 opening game win.
Shunsuke Watanabe pitched a complete game, outdueling Hawks ace Kazumi Saito who dropped to 0-6 in 10 career post-season starts.
