Asian Halloween and Live Blogging Thereof

October 31st, 2007 · 74 Comments

Halloween where I live is pretty non-existent except in nightclubs and apartment complexes where rich families who spend  75% of their income on English lessons live. I’m guessing China is much the same. They’re more into it in Japan, although given this from the NYT, I’m not sure if I’d be diving into the candy tonight.
Inventor Spot has a […]

October 30th, 2007 · No Comments

In the first inning of Tuesday’s contest the Chunichi Dragons rapped out seven straight hits leading to seven runs to put Game 3 away quickly and take a 2-1 lead in the Japan Series.
The 9-1 tally was one better than Game 2 and suddenly Trey Hillman’s Nippon Ham Fighters are looking punchless outside of Darvishland.

Tyrone Woods started the onslaught with a single […]

October 29th, 2007 · 1 Comment

It doesn’t even feel like four days let alone four games played during six days, but less than a week ago it looked like Doosan might be headed for a sweep of its mighty winged dragon-like foe.
But it wasn’t to be just as it did all through the KBO regular season the Wyvrens blazed a […]

Juice Blog Game 4: Sox Complete Sweep of Rockies

October 29th, 2007 · 1 Comment

It’s Cook vs. Lester tonight, a matchup that no one can really analyze given the amount of time off both these guys have had. Lester looked nice in his relief appearance in the ALCS, but Cook hasn’t been seen in months.I was kind of right last night on the type of game we’d see, and […]

October 28th, 2007 · 5 Comments

When I was reminded that the NFL was playing an exhibition game in London this week I couldn’t help but laugh.
Here comes the NFL. Within the same week that the NBA finishes a colossally successful exhibition tournament in China, and Major League Baseball is set to announce regular season games in Japan for 2008, the NFL still […]

Breaks of the Game: A Tough One for Kawakami and a Broken One for Darvish in Game 1 of Japan Series

October 28th, 2007 · No Comments

Kenshin Kawakami was phenomenal, allowing just two hits over eight innings and setting down 21 straight batters for the Chunichi Dragons.
But he still lost.
Fernando Seguignol hit a 0-2 fastball into the seats in right-center for a 3-run HR. The shot was proceeded the only two walks Kawakami would yield in the game and it was plenty of room for […]

Korean Series: SK Bounces Rios, Takes Game 4 to Tie Series

October 27th, 2007 · No Comments

Grinning and hopping around the mound in a way reminiscent of a young Kim Byung-hyun, Friday’s starter for SK Kim Gwang-hyun dominated the Doosan Bears, throwing 7 1/3 inn of one-hit ball, leading the Wyverns to a 4-0 win.
SK’s Kim (who is just 19) was dazzling, allowing just one hit to Lee Jeong-wook, and striking out nine. […]
