Best known for her roles in the action/erotic movies known as Pink Films (aka Pinky Violence)  Ike Reiko became a Japanese sensation during the 1970s, before running into various legal difficulties and dropping out of acting all together by the end of the decade.

With titles like Hot Springs Mimizu Geisha, Terrifying Girls High School: Women’s Violent Classroom, Criminal Woman: Killing Melody, her films and other associated with the genre, have left an indelible imprint that still shows up in work by directors Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez and Takashi Miike.

Short on plot, but steeped in action, and most importantly; style, these films mixed titillation and social commentary in ways that predated similar 80s films in Europe and America.

The films continue to be re-released today, most recently Terrifying Girls’ High School: Lynch Law Classroom (1973), not to be confused with the 1972 film of a similar title listed above.

In 1971 Ike also released an album, Kôkotsu no Sekai, reissued last year by Tiliqua Records a primarily reissue label based in Japan.

In the label press release the album is described as ”unabashed, urbane eroticism, a calculated addition of licentious overtones and unbridled carnal insinuations.”
